Development Producer
As a Development Producer you ideate concepts, conduct research, develop stories, and create proposals and pitches for internal and external stakeholders. You also facilitate the development of new content from external sources and manage a talent roster, which can include Producers, Directors, Writers, and Personalities. Beyond that, it’s also about knowing your brand, your audience, and the capabilities of your production team so you can take the right idea and create something special.
Ten to Try
With the pilot Ten to Try, I embodied all of these roles along with the title of Producer – taking the project from its inception and managing it to the finish line.
By creating the half-hour program Ten to Try, we were able to develop a television show that streamlined recommendations for state parks throughout North Carolina and connected mental and physical health activities to those locations. The show takes the utility and accessibility of a top-ten list and combines it with a broadcast travel series.
